Head of Legal – Climate Tech

Our client, a fast-growing climate tech, founded by very successful entrepreneurs, invested by some of the world´s main venture capital funds, is seeking a Head of Legal.

This role will work closely with senior leadership on different projects and matters, commercial deals and will also develop and implement policies and procedures to support the company’s rapid growth.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and provide responsive legal advice to senior business leaders to further the company’s business and protect the company’s interests;
  • Manage all important legal matters, such as: real estate (acquisition and regularization of property), capital markets (structuring of investment funds inshore and offshore, fund raising etc.), corporate (housekeeping and dealing with investors, shareholders, venture capital etc.), M&A, commercial agreements (drafting and negotiation), labor (e.g., stock options questions), litigation, tax, certifications etc.
  • Identify and mitigate risks and causes of the main legal contingencies or exposures;
  • Keep the senior leadership apprised of key legal and regulatory matters;
  • Adopt preventive measures to avoid legal contingencies and disputes in all areas of law;
  • Establish and manage a competitive budget according to the company’s business and keep costs controlled considering focusing on compliance and avoiding and managing contingencies.

Qualifications required for this position:

  • Law Degree and license to practice law;
  • Experience dealing with complex corporate / capital markets transactions and matters at top tier law firms. Tech/startup experience preferred;
  • Fluent English (written and spoken);
  • Strong verbal and written skills with the ability to explain complex, challenging issues in a clear manner to all levels of the organization;
  • Ability to work collaboratively across the company;
  • Solid judgment and business acumen, particularly in determining significance of legal issues in context of business goals, assessing risks/benefits and providing business and legal solutions;
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, hands-on and efficient;
  • Entrepreneurial spirit;
  • Strong organizational skills in order to prioritize and manage multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously;
  • Able to work accurately with an appropriate sense of urgency and function effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment;

Strong interpersonal skills, including diplomacy and flexibility.
